Los Angeles Renovation

From boring white walls to bold colors and textures, creating warm inviting spaces!

The pandemic was hard on everyone, but even harder on people who needed to travel for work! So when we were contacted to do this property in Los Angeles, it was time for some creative problem solving. We worked with these clients via zoom and by mailing samples to make this happen. With some floor plans and some help with measurements from the clients, we were able to make this happen virtually! Much of the renovation was cosmetic, so we could talk to the contractor via facetime calls to ensure a top notch quality of work was accomplished. This is also where our almost picture perfect renders of the space were utilized to take the space from a 3D model to real life, in perfect accuracy.

The space started as a generic white box with all white walls, cabinets, and even countertops! It was in desperate need of some personality and originality. Once we utilized our design exploration method with our clients, we had a super clear path forward. They were both aligned in their style, which makes everything go just a bit quicker. We were headed for a warmer, moodier, and sexier vibe. To accomplish this, we used a dark warm color palette with super rich textures, but also added just a dash of flair which you can see in the super fun light fixtures. We worked with the client to update the kitchen with a black herringbone patterned tile, warm wood shelving, and a nero marquina island tile that flows into the fireplace surround. We brought in a rough textured concrete look to the fireplace and two other walls by using a cost saving method of plaster and paint. This is all balanced by using a smooth black velvet for the super plush couch. Daring to be a bit bold, we were able to convince the clients to do a dark gray ceiling in the kitchen and dining spaces. This creates that cozy intimate vibe that is perfect for entertaining.

As you move to the bedroom you can see that bold move from the kitchen repeated in the bedroom ceiling. This is paired with a chevron patterned wood feature wall that extends from floor to ceiling. In front of this warm feature wall we were able to make the bed pop by balancing out the dark features with a white bed and linens. Pair is all with a super plush rug and our clients never want to get out of bed! We were able to utilize one of our brand partners to create custom curtains for this room that open and close at the push of a button. This home was a perfect reflection of these clients and they couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome!
