Gold Coast Mid-rise

A midcentury dream with bold color choices and rich textures.

This client was one who was fairly confident in their mid century design style, but needed the help when it came to execution. They wanted to bring to life what they were imagining in their heads, but couldn't quite figure out how to make it all work together. They wanted the help to save them on time, money, and all complicated decisions needed to bring this newly purchased vacation home to life. Their artwork was also a really fun and easy way to get to know them quickly so that I could help reflect that originality into their space!

They had two rugs already picked out to utilize in the space. From there, I pushed them just outside their comfort zone as I pulled the bold colors from the rug to utilize throughout the house. Orange and blue then became vibrant statements that really pulled the entire house together to feel cohesive throughout. The dark navy blue leather couch was a bold choice, but one that paid off beautifully. With the amazing build quality, it will be an heirloom they can pass down. We chose an extendable table so that their own family would fit perfectly at the smallest size, but they have the ability to expand the table to fit 4 more guests! Creating flexible spaces like this is one of the many ways we interpret how our clients plan to use the space and design to accomplish those goals. We paired the bold orange dining chairs with peacock blue counter stools to continue the motif throughout the space and it turned out spectacular! Well balanced with neutrals running throughout to ensure the artwork shines is what brings us into the bedroom. Here they owned a large blue and teal piece of artwork that I then paired with a warm burnt orange bed, completing the home with continuity from front to back. This home is their home away from home, and it has become an oasis within the city scape.

Review From the Owner:

My husband and I had just purchased a condo downtown that needed to be completely furnished. We gave Brock the floor plans and talked about the look and feel of what we were thinking. We showed him what rugs we already had for the LR and DR. What we most appreciated about Brock, besides his overall aesthetic eye and talent, was that he pushed us to consider some bolder colors for the couch, dining room chairs, kitchen island stools/chairs. We went for it. The condo looks amazing and we couldn’t be happier with our choices. Brock has a unique ability to think holistically of the flow from room to room—we needed terrace furniture which would be seen from the DR. He instinctively knew what would work with the DR furniture (and the colors) and how the accents of the terrace furniture worked with the DR furniture. We also used him as a sounding board for art, wallpaper, bed linens and other accents which he enthusiastically embraced. Highly recommend Brock Williams.
